Talking Hands

Nease High School’s Talking Hands sign language group will be signing a selection of holiday songs in the school’s auditorium (PAC) on Thursday, December 4 from 10:05 to 11:45 a.m. and will repeat the show from 2:05 to 3:30 p.m. One of the features of the show will be a surprise presentation to the group advisor Lisa Layton. The first presentation (surprise) will be made at the end of the first half of the first show around 10:40 a.m. Subsequent presentations will be around 11:40 a.m., 2:40 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.
Layton was recently featured in the Florida Times Union series on breast cancer (10/26/08). She was diagnosed with stage three cancer at just 31 years of age. As a three year, two time survivor, she has inspired her students to never give up. The group has collected money and donated it to Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C-standup2cancer.org), a cancer awareness charity dedicated to the support of cancer research. Students will wear special t-shirts saying Stand up to cancer as they sign the song “Just Stand Up.” Following the song, they will inform Layton of the donation they have made in her name.

New Attendance Procedures
We are streamlining the attendance procedures for late arrivals and early dismissals beginning Monday, October 6. For security purposes, parents and students will report to the main office rather than the attendance office. Students arriving after 9:30 should sign-in at the main office. Early dismissal requests must be submitted in writing before 9:15 AM to Ms. Patterson in the Attendance office where students will receive a pass to leave class. Students will check-out in the main office, and parents will meet students in the main office if they do not drive. Early dismissals are not granted after 2:00 PM on Wednesdays or after 3:00 PM on other days.We encourage appointments to be scheduled before or after school.Thank you.
